The Illegal Immigrants (Trafficking) Act 2000 introduces punishments in relation to persons who organise or knowingly facilitate the entry into the state of a person who they would have reasonable cause to believe is an illegal immigrant or an asylum seeker. The Act also introduces the 14 day time period in which judicial review proceedings must be instituted. Provisions concerning entry, search and seizure along with the introduction of extensive restrictions on persons who are subject to the provisions of a deportation order issued against them (section 10).
