The Single Market Act: The Integration Centre Comment
The announcement of the Single Market Act today (13/04/11) has been welcomed by The Integration Centre.
The Act was announced by The president of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, who has been advocating for a stronger single market for a number of years as a way out of the economic crisis.
There are twelve key components to the Act which Barrosa claims will create more jobs and allow the economy to develop.
CEO of The Integration Centre, Killian Forde said “We are particularly pleased with the provision which will quicken the process of qualification recognition. Fully qualified immigrants are often unable to reach their full potential in the workforce for many years, as they navigate the current qualification recognition system”.
Mr Forde continued “There have been a number of studies carried out, such as Immigrants at Work by the ESRI, which show that immigrants are hit even harder by unemployment than native populations during times of recession, legislation which tackles this problem will be of benefit to immigrants and the state in general.
